Bring Self Myofascial Release into Your Yoga Practice

3 WEEK SERIES | Saturdays | Dec 4th, 11th, 18th | 3pm

Here are some things to ask yourself:

Do I wake up feeling stiff? Do I experience tension headaches? Do I miss out on doing the things I love because I’m in physical pain? Did you know you can incorporate self massage into your yoga practice? Explore solutions to these questions through this workshop series designed to incorporate Self Myofascial Release into your yoga practice.

Self Myofascial Release (SMR) is a type of physical therapy used to enhance your mobility by releasing the connective tissue called fascia. When fascia becomes tight it creates lack of blood flow which affects the overall structure of the human body. By releasing and rolling out the fascia using specific tools and techniques, we can create more blood flow, balance out the body, and ease daily tension. You will discover areas of the body that you didn’t even know you were holding tension!

As we flow through asana practice, we will integrate different props to find a deeper release within those hard-to-reach areas. The first day of the series will be focused on the lower half of the body. We will work our way up the body ending the third week with our shoulders and neck. After each session you will leave feeling relaxed, loose, and refreshed for the holidays.

Students will be eligible to sign up for a discounted 1 on 1 session with Robin, even if you can only make it to one of the days, but we encourage you to attend all three for the maximum benefit! A discount code will also be available to purchase any of the props introduced during this series.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

After attending college in NH, Robin moved to the Mount Washington Valley in 2015 to start her career with the AMC. As is true for many, her practice with yoga was inconsistent for much of her youth.  It wasn’t until she moved to the valley that yoga became part of her everyday lifestyle.

In the summer of 2018 she had the pleasure to volunteer at the Wanderlust festival at Stratton Mtn Resort in Vermont where she had grown up skiing and playing in the Green Mountains. This transformational event, coupled with her background in Adventure Education and her passion for the outdoors made it crystal clear that becoming a yoga teacher was her next chapter.  She received her 200hr RYT at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health and went on to be certified in Movement & Mobility via RAD Roller. Robin’s mission now, is to combine her skills with RAD and Yoga to educate people on the general functions of their bodies movement and mobility.

When Robin is not teaching yoga and mobility, you can find her playing in the mountains. Her favorite activities are climbing, hiking, canoeing, running, etc.
