Mount Washington Backcountry Ski Festival is a four-day immersive experience in the White Mountains in North Conway, New Hampshire. We're thrilled to partner with them and bring yoga to festival participants.

This day-long yoga and ski course will be offered on Saturday, February 10th & and Sunday, February 11th.

What to Expect:

  • Morning Meditation and Gentle Yoga: Start your day with tranquility as we gather @ Mountain Kula Yoga Studio for a 75-minute morning meditation and gentle yoga session. Awaken your body and mind, preparing yourself for a day of exploration in the backcountry. These practices will focus on key areas like shoulders, back, quads, and hamstrings, specifically beneficial for skinning and skiing enthusiasts.

  • Backcountry Exploration: We'll then venture to a local backcountry ski trail or glade suited for "Intro to Backcountry" skiing ability. Immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes and the thrill of skiing off the beaten path.

  • Mindful Meditation: Throughout our day in the backcountry, we'll weave in moments of mindful meditation, allowing you to be fully present in the awe-inspiring natural surroundings. Experience the beauty and serenity of the wilderness like never before.

  • Restorative Yoga: After our backcountry adventure, return to the studio for a 75-minute restorative yoga practice. Picture a spa-like atmosphere with the soft glow of candles and soothing aromatherapy. This session will help you unwind, offering a profound transformation for your body, mind, and soul.

This retreat is your opportunity to harmonize with nature, reconnect with your inner self, and find peace within the backcountry's embrace. Whether you're new to yoga and meditation or a seasoned practitioner, this experience is designed to nourish your spirit and leave you refreshed and inspired.

Location

Our course location will be determined based on weather, snow, and avalanche conditions, as well as the group's ability level and guide judgment. 

Gear Requirements

Notably, this course does not require a beacon, probe, and shovel, making it ideal for beginners or those who prefer tree skiing and riding.

 

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

LAURA ERICKSON

Laura is the founder and owner of Mountain Kula Yoga. After a 20 year career in outdoor apparel design, her love of yoga, and connection to the Be Well community led her to acquire the yoga space at Be Well Studios and launch Mountain Kula Yoga in late 2021. Laura was first introduced to yoga in 2005 while working at Eastern Mountain Sports Base Camp in Peterborough, NH. It was there that she learned the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga from former employee and co-worker, Robert Moses.

She has studied Ayurveda with Cate Stillman, Heart Centered Leadership and Facilitation via the Spiritual Psychology curriculum of the University of Santa Monica, and most recently received her 300hr YTT from Ashley Turner’s Yoga.Psyche.Soul teacher training focused on yoga psychology, yoga for mental health, social justice, and trauma-informed yoga. When not at the studio Laura can be found Skiing, Mountain Biking, & occasionally attempting a headstand on a SUP!

Erin Paradis

Erin started her education at the University of Maine receiving a degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism and a minor in Outdoor Education. There she guided many outdoor programs in whitewater canoeing, backpacking, winter mountaineering, and skiing. She continued on to receive a masters in Kinesiology. Learning about the human body inspired her to study yoga and meditation.

She received her 200 hour yoga teacher certification in Falmouth, Maine. After college she headed to Asheville, NC and became licensed in massage therapy and reiki. Her most recent accomplishment has been receiving her integrative nutrition health coaching certificate. She has always kept a constant connection with nature and became a Registered Maine Guide in the discipline of sea kayaking. She believes in helping others achieve their wellness goals using a variety of modalities.
